History of pt3.org

From about 1999 to 2004, pt3.org hosted the site of the US Department of Education program Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (PT3). The grant program funded colleges of education and their partners to prepare new teachers to use technology in the classroom. Federal funding ended around fiscal year 2004.

After the program ended, the domain passed to unrelated owners. A site from about 2005 to 2007 was later filled with spam, and a blog ran on the domain from about 2011 to 2012.

The current pt3.org is a new, independent directory of teacher certification and preparation data. It is not run by, endorsed by or affiliated with the US Department of Education, and there is no current federal PT3 program.
